From Verdi’s rarely-heard String Quartet to Respighi’s lush Piano Quintet, this program reveals a more personal side of opera composers. Paired with three two-minute commissions based on Verdi’s La Forza del Destino, by three acclaimed living women composers—Marti Epstein, Elena Ruehr, and Elizabeth Brown, plus a few irresistible arias— the result is an affecting evening of Bel Canto!
