Welcome to Mistral’s Twenty-Seventh Season!

When I first had the idea to begin my own chamber series in 1997, little did I know of all the discoveries yet to come—of music, artistic collaborations, and friends— and the intensely gratifying experience I would have in connecting with my community through an intimate concert experience. I am touched and thrilled that hundreds of music lovers from far-flung towns have recognized something unique in Mistral’s special brand of “unstuffy, unpredictable, unmatched” music making

Music and memory will forever play an interconnected role in my life, and this emotional component often inspires me to program music that has in some way altered my own personal sensibilities, with the hope it will do the same for you. In the era of Facebook and smart phones, we need more moments to connect with each other in real time and space, to share a lasting memory with friends and loved ones. And in a world with so much tragedy, music reminds us that beauty still exists. Our artists regularly perform in the greatest concert halls of the world, from Lincoln Center, to Wigmore and Carnegie Halls, but on the Mistral stage, they will be just feet away from you. Please consider how much these concerts enrich your lives, and plan to come to all of our concerts this 27th season, whose programs will again soar across continents, centuries, and musical styles. As always, the performances will be unpretentious, high-spirited, and seriously fun—chamber music the way it’s supposed to be.

See you from the stage!
